New SmartLab opens at Park Forest Elementary

Baton Rouge leaders celebrated something big at Park Forest Elementary Wednesday. A ribbon cutting was held for the new, creative SmartLab.

The new addition to the school was made possible thanks to a $150,000 Magnet Schools Assistance Program Grant. The principal is hoping the new lab will help take the kids to that next level of learning.

"Quite a bit of things they just don't get to do in a normal everyday class, bringing them to the SmartLab offers them an opportunity to participate and feel what it feels like to make a robot and how to program them," said Principal Rosalind Wright.

Robots aren't the only thing the children will be able to explore. There's also software engineering, computer graphics, and scientific analysis.
