Maxwell Spanish Immersion Magnet Elementary in Lexington honored

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Maxwell Spanish Immersion Magnet Elementary in Lexington has been named the 2018-19 School of the Year by the Embassy of Spain’s Education Office in Washington, D.C.

The award goes to schools in the United States that demonstrate excellence in content and language integrated learning programs in English and Spanish.

Maxwell, which was Kentucky’s first whole-school immersion program, has a nearly 30-year record of providing quality education that is innovative and effective in fostering Spanish language proficiency, academic achievement, and global competence.
